Homework Policy
Aims of Homework
Homework is set to:
-
develop the habit of independent study
-
reinforce or extend work that has been carried out in class
-
provide an indication of progress being made to aid assessment
-
complete work begun in class or prepare for new work.
Year 8 1 hour per night – 3 20 minute homeworks
Year 9 1 hour per night – 3 20 minute homeworks
Year 10 1 hour per night – 3 20 minute homeworks
Years 11 & 12 up to 10 hours per week
At Key Stage 4 students should organise their time to ensure completion of homework, research, revision and coursework tasks.
The amount and nature of homework will vary from subject to subject.
Types of Homework
Types of homework may include: reading, project work, learning, researching, essays, collecting information, gathering materials/equipment, writing or drawing.
Every student is given a College Planner at the start of the year to record details of all types of homework and to ensure that deadlines are met.
It is the responsibility of all students to ensure they catch up as soon as possible with any work missed through absence from class.
Monitoring, Evaluation and review of Homework
The effectiveness of homework will be monitored, evaluated and reviewed regularly.
